GOSHEN — The Orange County Legislature will public hearings in two locations on a series of proposed additions and updates to the county master plan.
The sessions will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Central Valley Elementary School, 45 Route 32 in Central Valley; and at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wawayanda Town Hall, 80 Ridgebury Road in Slate Hill.
The amendments would set county policy on local water supplies and affordable housing, and shrink the total land area targeted for concentrated development.
Lawmakers are soliciting input before voting on the proposals; their first hearing was held in Goshen on June 7.
The amendment known as the water master plan has stirred opposition because of its suggestion to link municipal water systems. Critics fear that the county could force those connections; county officials insist they are purely voluntary.
The amendments can be read on the Planning Department section of the Orange County website at www.co.orange.ny.us.
